Should I buy extra tiles for future repairs?
Yes. Minimum 2 – 4 spare tiles after installation for single tile replacements.
Can I trust that all the tiles are the same?
Tiles are produced in batches, and each batch can have slight differences in colour shade, sizing and calibration.
What can you do? Measure each box of tiles and make sure they are the same size to the mm before buying.
What spacer should I use with floor tiles?
2 mm → for rectified porcelain floor tiles
3 mm → industry standard for most floors
5 mm → for rustic floor tiles or uneven surfaces
Herringbone pattern → typically 2–3 mm
How many extra tiles should I buy for cuts waste?
For most floor projects, allow 10% waste (Herringbone pattern – 15%). If you are DIY person or simply new to tiling I would go for 15 – 20%.
How do I measure a floor with irregular shapes?
Break the room into simple shapes: rectangles, and triangles. Measure each one separately and put it into calculator above.
